oh shoot, I don’t suppose you mean traveled by internet do you?
June 25th, 2011 at 11:28 am
4,700 miles. (Cardiff, Wales to Preston, ID.) Reason? Because we think you’re amazing. And what a surprise the store was! I loved the fabric and had to stop myself from buying and buying. But I’m no quilter so the amazing fat quarter bundles should probably go to someone who knows how to use them.
That’s not to say I don’t want to visit Suppose again ASAP.

I live in Logan, ut, so 35 miles. Even though there is a quilt shop in town I am still willing to travel to ID for Suppose. You guys have such a lovely store, great displays, and friendly and helpful staff. I never feel stupid for asking questions like I sometimes do at other stores! I <3 Suppose!

Loaded my 2 under 2 in the car and drove 120 miles to Suppose. 2 under 2 for 2 hours in the car shows my passion for Suppose. Never get out of there for less than $100 and most of what I buy is too loved and admired to actually cut up and use in a project. The fabric selection beats any store here in SLC and the help is killer too. Love you guys! I’ll be back again and again (even if I don’t win the bundle). See you soon!

I travel from Logan…my friend introduced me to your store and I love the selection, and colors! I too always spend too much, but love everything I bring home with me!!!

Hi! I live in Smithfield Utah, which isn’t really that far from Preston, it’s just a nice 30 minute drive north over the border into Idaho. I really love Suppose, and check in often for fabrics and new arrivals. I was recently searching for 2 jelly rolls to make a quilt for my grandson’s 2nd birthday. My search that Monday morning began at Suppose’s website, and they had the two jelly rolls! I know how fast these things fly out of the store, so when my husband called and asked where we were going for lunch I told him “Preston”. Now, not all husbands are as supportive as he, and he totally took this comment in stride. He picked me up at noon in North Logan and we headed out for the shop. He dropped me at the door and while I was shopping, (because of course I couldn’t just grab the two jelly rolls and leave!)he ran to a fast food place down the street and picked up our lunch. I made my purchases, he picked me up and we ate on the go. I made it back to work with my two jelly rolls and inspiration for yet another project. My grandson received his completed quilt on June 1st and totally loved it! THANKS!

I only travel over the internet too. Would love to be able to visit your shop.

I live in Hyrum, Utah… I travel to Preston,ID to purchased my quilting fabric @ Suppose for several reasons: the unique fabrics, knowledgeable personnel, the quality. I am addicted to quilting (I am greenie in quilting) and now I am addicted to this store. Thank you for being there.

Well, I only drive from Logan, but it’s still a sacrifice to make the drive. So worth if for all of the colors! Suppose is the most vibrant quilt shop I’ve been in.

I make a regular pilgrimage from Paradise, UT (about an hr) with my 3 red-headed hoodlums because I absolutely love your style! The great fabric selection and beautiful projects are about more than I can handle! I never leave that store without a hefty purchase. Which attests to the fantastic variety and quality of merchandise you guys have. I am SOOO SOOO SOOO glad you are there and I take every chance I get to tell everyone I know about you! It is well worth the drive.
June 29th, 2011 at 5:43 pm
I drive up from Provo, UT any chance I get. You guys have the best selection of anyone around! And I love your sense of style and the products you choose. Defintely worth the drive everytime. The only challenge is staying in my budget

I’ll be coming from Eagle, Idaho this very weekend! Dynamite! My daughter has a gift certificate from your store, that’s what is bringing us there, plus it’s what Napoleon would do! Right?!(I wonder how far he would have to travel???) I can’t wait to see your store. {news flash: Napoleon D. is Supposed to be coming this very weekend!…} Thanks!

I come from Eagle Mountain, Utah (2 1/2 hours) several times a year. I check the blog and e-mails for sales. I love the great ideas and you have a fabulous selection of fabrics. My daughter loves the scrap bin for making her hair flowers! I’ve made several of the kits that you have and LOVE them!

Well, we went to Yellowstone this past week, and on the way I decided to stop at a few quilt stores on the way(not having a chance to do the bog hop). Well, after stopping at two I gave up! They were not great much less good. Even though we live here in Franklin, I would travel far and wide to visit Suppose. Thanks for having such a great store in Preston!!

Brisbane, Australia! I haven’t actually physically been inside your store in Preston as yet, but I have many pieces of fabric in my patchwork stash thanks to my American sister who lives in Cub River. For my birthday & Christmas gifts Michelle sends me some amazing fabric from Suppose, and I will be sending some lovely patchwork cushions back to her family for birthday gifts this year. So the fabric does a complete 360 degrees, from Preston, Idaho to Brisbane, Australia, back to Idaho again! Next year I will make the trip in person & be sure to come & have a look for myself.

Over 8 American states… Over a days worth of travel… We waded thru rivers, hiked over the Rockies, through the desert, trekked the wilderness, and hitchhiked out to Suppose all with 2 littles under 2 strapped to our backs…
Exaggeration much? Only slightly. We did leave Braselton, Georgia drive to Atlanta, fly to Salt Lake City (with a layover in between) and make the drive to Preston to visit y’all and your amazing shop – all with my two precious boys (2, newborn) and husband in tow.
Suppose was the very first modern fabric shop I’ve visited, ever. I walked through your door and was in textile heaven. I suppose I stayed too long and perhaps I spent too much but I’d do it all over again to see the prints lining your shelves and chat with the ladies behind your counter.
Thank you for the perfect first experience of a modern fabric shop… so much so that I seek out stores similar to Suppose wherever I find myself.

Smithfield isn’t that far away…but you ladies know why I come! I love love love your store. Since I started coming up to Preston, I don’t buy fabric anywhere else. I love the atmosphere, the selection, but most of all the company. I love talking through my craziness to someone who pretends to understand and rolling their eyes when my quilts don’t match in the most perfect way. The ladies at Suppose helped me chose fabric for my wedding and the quilts that are in the cupboard for those children that are a long way off. Suppose has given me a refuge from the everyday and a place to go to swim through my imagination until the perfect fabric pops out to bring my visions to life. All I can say is thank you!

Suppose is a happy place. The fabric is bright and the best quality. The displays are beautiful and creative. The patterns and books are good and some found only at Suppose. And last but not least the staff is always friendly, happy and so willing to help.

I come from Hyrum and I love to come to Suppose. Love the fabric. Love the fabric. LOVE THE FABRIC.

Since I first stepped foot in Suppose, I have been traveling from Logan to Preston on a regular basis. I guess Logan isn’t that far to travel, but I always try to bring friends to the shop with me. If you count my miles traveled+the family and friends that I have recruited to enjoy the Suppose experience=the opportunity to “create” and “delight” because of the great selection of modern fabrics and fantastic staff and owners. Hmm… I think I am going to make another trip tomorrow! Can’t resist!

I visit the area from Iowa City every summer (1200 miles), “suppose-dly” (ha ha) to visit my family. I hit Suppose for the first of many times within 24 hours to start making purchases for my stash and for the annual “Suppose quilt.” I spend my vacation creating a fabric memory in the sewing room. Perfection with a mountain view!
So, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!
1. Suppose is kid-friendly. There’s a place to watch a movie in a safe area with nothing to break. The aisles are wide enough for a stroller to fit through unobstructed.
2. Suppose carries the complete collection, not
just selected fabrics from the collection. Collections are stored together for convenience–no scavenger hunts here!
3. Suppose carries fabrics from lesser known designers that you can’t even find on theinternet, let alone in person.
4. Suppose does NOT have a shop kitty (sadly I am completely serious. I was once bitten at a quilt store in rural Iowa while my fabric was being cut), a resident chain-smoker and never stores bolts of fabric directly on floor. That last one is a real deal-breaker for me and is one of the criterion I use to separate the okay quilt shops from the exceptional quilt shops.
5. Suppose has friendly, knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to make suggestions, add that last impulse buy to the tally even AFTER they just ran your credit card or preside over your purse and keys if you have to grab fabric with both hands. They will even exhibit selective memory and forget that they’ve seen you four times in the past three days.
6. Suppose runs great in-store sales (no anemic row of sale fabric and basket of tattered patterns hete) complete with email and facebook notification that should be reason alone to head for the car or find your new Franklin county best friend (thanks, mom).
7. Suppose has a design point-of-view…and it ain’t just “modern.” I would call it “fresh.”Fresh can mean batik, reproduction, solid or even the tonals and blenders. Suppose carries the best of all of those, so you shouldn’t stay away if modern brights aren’t your thing.
8. Suppose offers great classes to give you ideas for projects you can make out of all those yummy fabrics you just bought.
9. Suppose unleashes your inner creative beast! I get a jolt of creative inspiration that sends me scurrying for the nearest sewing machine every time I walk in the door. The website says it all…suppose, create, delight. I am a believer.
10. Are you kidding? Preston is a destination all by itself. Spend your morning shopping at Suppose, cross the street for NY Deli (I reccomend the Seattle or Memphis sandwich–delish) and shop for your kids or grandkids in the best little toy store ever…the basement at King’s. Local is better, and Suppose is awesome. Go get in the car already!!
I pecked this out on my phone. Suppose may have helped my mom’s modern flair by teaching her who Kaffe Fassett is, but she still doesn’t have internet.

WOW! Jill said it all! How can I compete with that? I heartilly agree with her comments, and I love to shop @ Suppose every chance I get. I live in southwestern Wyoming, about three hours away, so not a terrible drive, but definately worth it. We have a local fabric shop here, which is great, considering the size of our area, but they don’t carry the books, fabrics, or inspiration quilts that really make my creative side ramp up. I really, REALLY, love the fabrics carried @ Supppose, and the only problems I encounter are trying to choose which ones I like the most. The staff is great, helpful when needed, but not overbearing. The birthday party Plinko? and turq

I definately don’t travel the farthest to go to Suppose but I might be the most frequent. I live in Montpelier which is not far but does involve a canyon. I once went to Suppose when that canyon should have been closed. It was by far the worse trip I’ve ever taken in my 12 years of living here. But it was worth it. Suppose has the most variety I’ve seen. I love being recognize and having someone help me with my purchases. I will admit that I love the sales. Also I’ve taken a couple of classes there and they are really fun and informative. I love telling everyone I know about your shop. And when I have family in town I make sure and take a trip over the canyon to show them your store. Thanks for caring about me and making me want to return.

Thanks so much for hosting our quilting group on Tuesday. We had a great time. It was a little difficult tracking down the rumored “great quilting shop in Preston” but it was well worth it. Your staff was great to help us. I’ll certainly be making the trip from Ogden to visit you again.

My sisters and I make weekly pilgrimages into town from the summerhouse at Glendale. (Boston, PHoenix, Orem). We bring a sewing machine and use the code word “Supose” when we need to run in for supplies. I love your modern fabrics and numerous samples. The only sad thing is we have no Internet, so I didn’t see this posting until now.
