Thursday, May 22nd, 2014

If you, like us, were overloaded with Quilt Market photos on Instagram last weekend, let us help you make sense of it all. After a couple days to think about it, we’ve sifted it down to a few key trends and news items of note. Here’s our take on what we saw…

the $5 shipping steal

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

Good news. You can now order as much as you want from Suppose online and just pay $5 for Priority Mail shipping! It’s a total steal considering those heavy yards can easily add up to costing $10-25 to get to you. Just choose the $5 Flat Rate option at check-out and you’re good to go.

We hope this makes it easier to get what you need without worrying about those pesky pounds. Now about those other pesky pounds…

oh, lotta

It was just at Spring Quilt Market that Jess and I were saying, “I wish Lotta Jansdotter had quilting fabric!” And lo and behold, Windham Fabrics will be sending her first collection, Echo, this Fall! introducinglottaecho

Let me back up a minute, in case you’re not familiar with Lotta Jansdotter. She is a Swedish printmaker and textile designer who is based in Brooklyn (formerly San Fransisco).  We’ve long loved her simple, organic style which is often in the form of stamped designs inspired by botanical shapes. You may have seen her papers and other goods in stores like Anthropologie over the years, not to mention her sewing books, Simple Sewing and Simple Sewing for Baby, which are favorites round here. Get to know Lotta in this video in which she gives a tour of her studio. Isn’t she adorable? And you can bet we’ll be squealing with excitement when Echo arrives in November!

shop hop poster

Get ready… Suppose is in our first shop hop ever! At just the time of year when you could use a little road trip, the Rocky Mountain Quilt Fever shop hop is the perfect reason to escape. The theme this year is “Songs on the Trail”… put April 22-May 7 on your calendar!

If you’ve never attended a shop hop before, here’s how it works.  You can start at any of the 11 shops in the hop where you’ll get a passport.  Each shop you visit will have festivities & prizes, along with a free bracelet charm and a free quilt block pattern so that you can make a sampler quilt.  You’ll also get your passport stamped at each shop, and if you make it to all 11, you can enter your passport in a drawing to win the grand prize.  It’s a pretty sweet bounty– a quilt retreat for 8 people plus a huge gift basket. Can you imagine? What a dream! There are also a bunch of runner-up prizes including gift certificates, and baskets full of goodies from your favorite notion & fabric makers. Kids can even get their own passports and be entered to win the junior prize basket.

We are the southernmost shop, and the hop extends up to Rexburg on the North, through  Jackson Hole, and to Pinedale, Wyoming on the East. The hop goes for more than two weeks so even if you split your traveling up between 2 weekends you can make it to every single shop.  Sounds like it’s time to gather your guild friends & sewing buddies and start the debate over who’s car is most comfy.

suppose web store beta

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Good news today: the Suppose web store is up and running!  Hallelujah!  Though we are still improving the design and functionality of the site, we can now take orders online. (Please excuse the imperfections as we continue to work on things.)  Most of the 2000 bolts in the shop are available, and we are adding more notions, books, patterns, and kits constantly.  So now I can say things like:  See what we have left in the Lush collection by Erin Michael right here.  And if you are local, you can use the in-store pickup option for shipping so you can grab things before they sell out even if you don’t have time to come in to the store right away.  And keep an eye out, when we have the official web store launch we’ll be running some specials.

pittsburgh spring quilt market 09: day 5

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Final day! By Sunday we were exhausted but ecstatic because we bought this:

Our very own long-arm quilting machine! After tons of research on Kathy’s part, we chose the APQS Millenium. It will be here soon and in due time we’ll be quilting up a storm. We’ll update soon with our rates and details on how you can have your quilts quilted by Suppose.

We are happy to be home and back to our haven at Suppose, and anxious to get to work on all the goodies we found at market.
